Photography is the best way to contain emotions and memories for a span of time. Freedom Shot which was conducted in-order to celebrate India’s 70th Independence Day.

Distinguished Guest Lecture by Mr. Pankaj Kumar, General Manager, ONGC India Ltd.:

Students participated in this event to showcase and enhance their group discussion skills. They were divided into small groups for the primary discussion while the selected students went for the final discussion on the given topic.

Webinar:

On 12th September, 2016 IIChE UPES Student Chapter organised Webinar- A session with Miss SonalBhaduriya. She is one of our most coveted alumni who is pursuing her PhD from University of Akron. The webinar was a huge success as this meeting from Ohio, USA attracted and enlightened a lot of students connected to Chemical Department.

GATE Guidance:

GATE Guidance was organised for the students of 3rd and 4th year of Chemical Branch. Mr. Amit Kr. Thakur and Mr. Rahul Kumar, expertly guided the students and prepared them for the prestigious GATE examination. They introduced a series of 6 tests which provided students with the complete insight to the exam. Mr. Amit and Mr. Rahul who themselves are national level achievers in the examination, worked very hard to make sure that the students get the best material at an extremely nominal price. The event started on 13th October, 2016 and the students were extremely thankful for the help.

Logo Trek:

Logo trek was a three round event. The first round was Logo Quiz, followed by the second round which demanded students to guess the name of the company based on their taglines.The last round was the surprise round.

Music Maestro:

Music Maestro was an effort in making people aware of the music that the witnessed. Starting from the "song recognition" round, the competition proceeded through "artist recognition" round, ending at the "Mixed Round" which was the rapid fire round. The questions ranged from the new blockbusters to the evergreen singles and covered the artists such as Kishore Kumar and Metallica.

Sketch the Story:

Sketch-the- Story was organized on January 17, 2017 under the banner of MELA. The event focused on how the participants were able to interpret the given story, think about its end and sketch it. We witnessed a lot of participation and some dazzling sketches as well. The sketches were judged by the Professors of Designing Studies.

Word Play:

Word Play was aimed at contemplating the knowledge of literature varying from Indian Classic to Fiction. The event saw the participants enjoying the fun of showing off their knowledge about literature while learning about it. The first round was "Contemporary Quiz" followed by” Complete the Phase Round”. The participants were forced to use their wits as the host Ms. Maitree Jha fired the questions at them.

Mini Militia:

On 20th of January 2017, IIChE UPES Student Chapter organized Mini Militia Tournament under the Entertainment section of M.E.L.A. week. The event was organized at a grand level with participation from students from all over the college. It was a test of nerves and thumbs as round after round participants were being eliminated. The event turned out to be a successful episode in the jubilant book of M.E.L.A.

Stick Game:

Stick game, an event that tickled the creativity of the students while testing their managing skills. It was conducted on January 21, 2017 under MELA. A hint of fun could be sensed in the air as the sticks meddled intricately with the fingers. The event was wrapped within two hours with some inventive craft pieces.

Case Study Challenge:

A maximum of three members as a team presented an abstract on a pre-allotted case study in the first round. The selected candidates then proceeded onto the next round, wherein they presented their solutions in front of a jury by the means of a power point presentation. The last round saw a Q&A session of the team with the jury, pertaining to the flaws in the solution.

Sympedia:

Sympedia was a two round event. An Extempore followed by the Panel Discussion round. In the first round, the participants had a minute each to speak on a general topic, provided on the spot. The shortlisted participants from the Extempore round had a Group Discussion, topics which were related to Chemical Engineering domain. A total of 5 minutes was provided to prepare for the topic.

Chem-e-Battle was a two round event. The first round was an aptitude test and the second round featured a quiz based on chemical domain.

Prezento:

IIChE UPES Student Chapter organised Prezento: Technical Paper Presentation. A platform for aspiring Engineers to showcase their talents in research and innovation. The topics were to be under the domain of Chemical Industry.

Industrial Design Problem:

This event was framed to give a chance to showcase the thoughtfulness for problem solving and the team spirit. A maximum of three members as a team were allowed to collect their knowledge to come up with one innovative idea and convert it into a design which was a remedy for the currently faced problem by the Chemical industry. The event was organized into two rounds as abstract submission for the given problem, followed by the presentation; and the work of each team was to be judged accordingly.

Chem-E-Car:

Chem-e-Car, was an event dealing with the construction of a model car which runs on the power of Chemical Reactions. It tested one's ability to channelize thoughts into reality or technically, chemical energy into mechanical energy.

Youth Connect:

As part and parcel of the Youth Interactive Session outlined by IIChE UPES SC, Mr. Mohit Kapadia visited UPES, Bidholi campus to talk and share his experiences on “Reliance Industries and its Coal Bed Methane Operations”.

Mr. Kapadia, who was a 2010 batch student of MS in Chemical Engineering at University of Southern California, possess vast projects design experiences as a Process Engineer from his various endeavors at Honeywell Automation, Jacobs Engineering, and Dodsal Engineering Dubai. He is currently engaged as an Operations Engineer with Reliance Industries. There was a lot of experience on the plate with Mr. Kapadia’s interaction, and it was scheduled for Friday, April 7th, 2017, 11 am onwards. The venue for the event was Europe Hall, MDC.
